Road Trip Songs

Our adventure begins a week today. We’re so excited that we are at the stage where sleep is beginning to become impossible.

2 weeks today, after 5 days in New York and 2 days at Niagara Falls, our road trip will begin. We’ve got the route plotted, we’re going to learn how to change a tyre before we go and we’re going to read the American highway code. But what’s the most important planning that needs to go into any good road trip…? The perfect sound track of course.

Born To Be Wild, Mustang Sally, Fast Car and anything by the Beach Boys are good and obvious suggestions I came up with, but it would be nice to hear your thoughts as well. Please comment and suggest some.  And some new songs and bands would be good too. It would be a great chance to find some new bands to love.

Please note Emma has banned any songs that may have appeared in any road trip horror movies at any point. Therefore AC/DC’s Highway To Hell is out of the question.

One month today

This is the first post of what will be many on our new blog.

For the past 14 months Emma and I have been planning a trip. A trip that will involve us living in Canada. At first they were just ideas, but after a bit of form filling to receive visas, they became reality.

Now today, with one month to go, it seems like a good day to start blogging about our adventure.

We leave the UK on June 14th. We are, however, not flying straight to Canada. We have decided to spice up our trip somewhat. We’re going to begin our adventure by taking six weeks to do a road trip across the USA. Starting in New York and ultimately ending up in Seattle, which is just a few hours away from Vancouver where we will live for a year.

It does mean giving up our life and jobs in Aberdeen, but we’re at an age where seems right to take an adventure, combined with little debt and no mortgage, it’s now or never.

We don’t have jobs in Vancouver yet. We don’t even have anywhere to live. But that’s not going to stop us. And we hope you’ll join us on the way by reading this blog.

It’s going to be an interesting year ahead.
